AC Services

Time for an Honest Look at Your Air Conditioner?

Is your AC blowing warm air, making a noise you've never heard before, or driving up your power bill no matter what you do? These aren't minor annoyances in the Houston Metro; they're signs your system is under serious stress and needs professional attention before a small problem becomes a complete breakdown. Strive HVAC & Construction has a team ready to diagnose the real issue and get your home comfortable again.

AC Repair & Service

When your air conditioner fails, it’s not just an inconvenience—it’s an emergency. We get the calls every day: a system that won't turn on, a thermostat that’s been ignored, or puddles of water forming around the indoor unit. These symptoms point to specific failures we've traced and fixed on hundreds of systems across the Houston area.

A technician who just swaps a part without finding the cause is setting you up for another failure. We start by diagnosing the entire system to find the root of the problem. Is it a simple capacitor that’s failed, or did that capacitor fail because the fan motor is drawing too many amps? Is the refrigerant low because of a pinhole leak in the evaporator coil, or was it improperly charged from the start? We see it all.

Common Failure Points in Houston Systems

• Capacitor Failure: A very common issue that prevents the compressor or fan motor from starting.
• Clogged Condensate Drain: Our humidity creates a ton of condensation. If the drain line clogs with algae and sludge, it can back up, trip a safety switch, and shut your system down.
• Refrigerant Leaks: Leaks in the coils or lines cause poor cooling, frozen coils, and can eventually destroy the compressor.
• Fan Motor Burnout: Both the indoor blower and outdoor condenser fan motors are under constant strain and can fail from age or electrical issues.
• Contactor Issues: The electrical relay that powers the outdoor unit can become pitted or fail, leading to intermittent or no operation.

We explain the problem, show you the failing part, and lay out your options. If a system is old and the repair is costly, we'll have an honest conversation about whether that money is better put toward an AC Installation & Replacement. Our trucks are stocked with the most common parts to get you back up and running on the first visit.

Whether your AC needs a quick fix or a detailed diagnostic, our team handles every call across Houston Metro for AC Repair & Service.

  AC Installation & Replacement

There comes a point when another repair is just throwing good money after bad. If your system is over 10-12 years old, uses the phased-out R-22 refrigerant, or needs a major component like a compressor, it’s time to talk about replacement. Constantly high energy bills and uneven cooling are also clear signs your old unit just can't keep up anymore.

Installing a new air conditioner is more than just swapping two metal boxes. The most critical step is getting the size right. A system that's too small will run constantly and never satisfy the thermostat. A system that's too big—a mistake many contractors make—will short-cycle, turning on and off so frequently that it never properly removes humidity from the air, leaving you with that cold, clammy feeling that’s all too common in Houston.

We perform a proper load calculation on your home, factoring in square footage, insulation, window quality, and sun exposure. This ensures the unit we recommend is perfectly matched to your home's specific needs. We also inspect your ductwork, because a brand-new high-efficiency system will perform poorly if it's connected to leaky, undersized ducts. After every installation, we recommend an ongoing AC Maintenance & Tune-Up plan to protect your investment and keep the warranty valid.

AC Maintenance & Tune-Up

In our climate, an air conditioner isn't a luxury; it's a workhorse that runs for months on end. Neglecting it is the fastest way to an expensive and inconvenient breakdown. An annual tune-up isn't just a quick look-over; it's a comprehensive service designed to restore efficiency, catch failing parts, and extend the life of your equipment.

Think of it like an oil change for your car. You wouldn't drive 20,000 miles without one. Your AC runs for thousands of hours each year, and that wear and tear adds up. A dirty condenser coil forces the compressor to work harder, drawing more electricity and generating more heat. A clogged drain line can cause significant water damage. A weak capacitor can leave you stranded on the hottest day of the year.

What We Check During a Tune-Up:

• Clean outdoor condenser coil
• Clear condensate drain line
• Check refrigerant charge and pressures
• Test capacitors and electrical connections
• Inspect contactors for pitting/wear
• Lubricate motors as needed
• Calibrate the thermostat
• Measure temperature split and airflow

Regular maintenance is the single best thing you can do to prevent the need for an AC Emergency Repair. It pays for itself in lower energy bills, fewer breakdowns, and a longer system lifespan.

  AC Inspection & Testing

A standard tune-up is for a system you already own and trust. But what if you're buying a new home, or if your current system has chronic problems that other technicians haven't been able to solve? That’s when you need a full diagnostic inspection, which goes much deeper than routine maintenance.

This service is for homeowners who need a definitive, unbiased assessment of their HVAC system's health. A home inspector might tell you the AC "appears to be functional," but we'll tell you how functional it is. We use diagnostic tools to measure airflow through your ductwork, check for static pressure issues that strain the blower, and test the electrical draw of major components like the compressor and fan motors.

We’re looking for the hidden problems that cause high bills and recurring failures. This detailed report gives you a clear picture of the system's condition, its remaining lifespan, and a prioritized list of any needed repairs. It's the information you need to negotiate a home purchase or finally solve a long-standing comfort issue. The results of this visit often lead to targeted AC Repair & Service to correct underlying flaws.

This isn't the time to wait for a scheduled appointment; you need a rapid response from a team that can handle critical failures.

An emergency isn't just a system that's not cooling well. It's a total shutdown, loud mechanical grinding or banging from the outdoor unit, or the smell of burning plastic coming from your vents. If your breaker keeps tripping every time the AC tries to start, that's another clear sign of a serious electrical problem that requires immediate attention.

When to Call for Emergency Service:

• The system will not turn on at all.
• Loud, metallic grinding or screeching noises.
• A burning smell from the vents or equipment.
• The circuit breaker trips immediately when the AC starts.
• Water is actively leaking from the ceiling or indoor unit.
